If you have a problem with critters digging up your fall bulbs, try lining the hole with wire mesh, like chicken wire. Line the sides of the hole and then put a piece over the top after you've planted your bulb. Keep the top part at least 3 inches below the soil surface. Try bulbs that are naturally pest resistant like daffodils, allium, and hyacinths.
